Fire Safety Training

Last Saturday, our company held a fire safety training. What was it all about? It was the knowledge about fire and how to handle it.

Fire safety information is very important to saves lives. Whether it’s in your own home or in the workplace, education and clear signs of fire hazards and safety equipment can prevent injuries and save buildings as long as people are well conscious of everything they need to know.

First, we were given the theory of fire safety and the characteristics of fire itself. There are 4 types of fire:
Class A fires involve solid materials of an organic nature such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber and plastics that do not melt.

Class B fires involve liquids. They include petrol, diesel, thinners, oils, paints, wax, cooking fat and plastics that melt.
Class C fires involve electricity.
Class D fires involve flammable metals such as magnesium, aluminium, titanium, sodium and potassium.

We use different type of extinguishers for each type of fire.

For class A we have to use water and foam extinguisher.

For class B we have to use foam and powder extinguisher.

For class C we have to use CO2 extinguisher.

For class D we have to leave it to the expert.

Well, I’m not gonna talk in detail here. Just remember the simplest way if your frypan on fire don’t pour water, cos it gonna blow up. Take towel, make it wet and cover it on the frypan.

Well, after in class training we went to the Fire Station Office to practise. Let me show you the video.

This is what we called put off the fire by cutting of the oxygen supply.

This is what will happen if you try to put off the fire on the frypan by water.

So, first you must cut off the gas supply by turning off the regulator, then take wet clothes (not nylon) to cover up the fire.

Now, it’s time for us to practise and lear to use some of the fire extinguisher.

First, pull out the pin then grab the end of the hose.

Test the fire extinguisher before using it, this one we were using powder extinguisher (it’s more effective for outdoor fire).

So, that was how it worked. Good job for me hahahaha…

This one how to put off the fire in traditional way. Remember to cover the fire up from the back.

I think it’s enough or it would be too much to put all the video here hahahaha.. see you on the next blog.
